Montana Appaloosa Original Oil Painting, 20X24 Sold.
Montana Appaloosa is an oil painting I did for the Missoula Montana Carousel. It was donated for their 10th anniversary birthday party. I felt honored to be able to help the carousel raise money for funding it needed.
Veneetah is my latest carousel horse painting. She's an oil painting. 20X24 on gessoed mdf board. Veneetah came mostly from my mind. I have a reference photo I took at the Helena carousel, I looked at it in the very beginning of the painting, then it seemed Veneetah wanted to come out on her own as I didn't need the reference anymore.
I couldn't think of a good name for her. I posted a picture of her on my blog. Someone wrote a comment, suggesting I call her Veneetah, the Navajo word for Soft Winds. That name fit her perfectly!
This painting has a life to it, it's hard to describe... Kind of a glow within it that makes it seem she might come right off the painting and become real. She has "spirit". Perhaps that's why her name is so perfect for her.
She is framed in a thin gold antique frame.$660+ shipping
