Montana Horse Gallery, Donna Allen Ridgway, artist.
I grew up with cows... My brother and I milked the cows for house milk when we were kids. I milked Nicki and he milked Rosie. Nicki was black, like an angus, Rosie was a big, raw-boned, roaned short horn. They kept us in milk, cream and butter. Then we had the cow/calf herd, and the yearling herd to keep us busy, feeding, calving, fixing fence-and keeping them inside that fence. Branding bees were the social event of spring.... I like to paint cows now and then, because they were such a big part of my life. Subscribe to the blog in the box at the bottom of this page, and see the cow paintings as they happen. | ||
